Concept
A character-based visual system developed to complement an existing Japanese bakery brand, using kawaii aesthetics to enhance emotional connection and brand recognition. Inspired by yuru-chara culture, the black cat mascots introduce a playful, approachable layer to the brand while aligning with its artisanal, handcrafted identity. The characters are designed for adaptability across physical and environmental applications.
Description
Designed a series of original kawaii black cat mascots for a real bakery brand in Japan, intended for use across storefront window graphics, signage, and branded touchpoints. The character system enhances the bakery's visual identity by introducing a consistent, engaging mascot presence that appeals to customers and strengthens brand memorability.
Each illustration was developed to function both independently and as part of a cohesive set, allowing for flexible use in environmental design while maintaining stylistic consistency. The work draws from Japanese mascot design traditions, emphasizing simplicity, expressiveness, and charm to create a welcoming and distinctive brand experience.
